Repurpose for what purpose?

After my late 2011 MBP died for the first time, and lived a short second life, I’ve wondered what I could do with it. Apple will not give me anything for it through their recycling program, and I’m probably not going to get much from a secondhand shop. I’m a little hesistant to try it out because I think I’d miss it too much. Maybe I should give that a try after all since I can’t do much to it without spending some money to make use of the parts.

I was thinking about turning it into some sort of clamshell for my iPads, and wire the internal keyboard and trackpad to connect to the iPad via USB. Since iOS supports this, I thought it would be worth trying. The money and time required to try and get it to work may not really be worth it in the long run. Well, maybe I will try selling it after all. Letting go of it just feels like a waste, but perhaps I’m wasting my time thinking about it when I could gain more time and money if I just got rid of it.
