Taking the time to read more books
Before I turned 34, I took a bit of time to think of some things I’d like finish or start doing more while I’m 34. Reading more books, preferably more of the ones I already own, was high on the list.
After noticing it was a bit tough for me to focus on long form reading a couple months back, I decided to tackle a couple of books over a couple of days. I read 3 or 4 books in roughly a week, and then quickly burned out on reading. Cramming wasn’t the best idea, so I’m going to take my time with this attempt.
Yesterday I lucked into a free trial of Envato Elements that gave me access to the entire A Book Apart library. I’ve purchased more than half of their catalog in the past, but haven’t had the chance to purchase any of their recently released titles. So the free trial was a good motivator to hop back into reading. The first book I wanted to tackle was Chris Coyier’s Practical SVG.
Practical SVG offers some useful, almost said it, advice on using Scalable Vector Graphics on the web. I learned a great deal from it, and I will be able to expand upon what I learned with the wealth of links and resources Chris included. I’d like to try to build a page about each book I read, but I’m not quite sure if I’ll tackle that just yet. If you haven’t already read it, I recommend giving Practical SVG a read to get familiar with SVG.
